I love starting the day with readings from the Word.
Some days it lifts up.
Brings life.
Encourages.
Some days it shines the light on deep, dark places.
That need light.
Healing.
We all have them.
So many words.
That add an ingredient to the thoughts of the day, as they tumble around in our hearts and our minds. Like light that illuminates and highlights areas that we think/assume are long hidden.
Were we even aware?
Were we pretending not to notice?
Do we avoid giving attention to them or hope they go away, left to fester for another day?
Are we at all like Job on his ash heap with a terra cotta pot sherd?
These extra ingredients, these words, this light cast on our thoughts...must be like pumice or sand that polishes our spirit...in a reviving, cleansing way.
Not a one-day job.
The work goes on.....
The good news?
Oh yes, there is always good news!!
On this lovely journey, along this stony pass:
"My eyes will watch over them for their good, and I will bring them back to this land. I will build them up and not tear them down; I will plant them and not uproot them. I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the Lord. They will be my people, and I will be their God, for they will return to me with all their heart." Jeremiah 24:6 & 7
