My Old Friend

It was soooo good to meet up with James on this 40 day journey.
Like we hadn't chatted since my small group study wrapped up in the Spring.
Amazing how rich his words are since we dwelt on them together...verse by verse.
Drinking deeply.

"Humbly accept the Word planted in you, which can save you."  James 1:21

This mirror (v22-25)

Don't just listen to God's Word.
That Word of Life!
Do what it says.
Or it will be like looking in a mirror.
But forgetting what you saw.
Forgetting what you look like.
His image in you.
Forgetting that you are a new Creation.

I love those eureka! moments when I finally get it
...the impact of verses like this.
There is something about slow steady trial that oppresses your spirit.
Like a settled haze that deeply affects the clarity with which you see life.
...with which you recognize Truth.
...you become so much more susceptible to untruth when you have a weak grip on Truth or haven't been spending time in the Word.

Truth.
The Word of Life.
Planted.
Cultivated space.
In your heart.
His Spirit, over your spirit.

So simple.
So profound.
So true.
