Joshua 15, 16, 17 & 18
There are always little stories among the big ones.
I love those kinds of stories.
The settling into the good land must have seemed surreal.
This Promise a gift to hold for all generations.
To live there.
Wholeheartedly
Not part-heartedly or half-heartedly.
And the land had rest from war
And people could get about the business of settling.
Of farming.
Of buying and selling.
Marrying and getting on with life.
We see Zelophehad’s daughters again.
The names of all five of them are recorded:
Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Trizah.
They went to Eleazer and to Joshua,
Comfortable to sit and hold audience with national
leaders.
The daughters of Manasseh receiving an inheritance among
the sons. (Ch 17:6)
The loose ends of the story getting tied up.
Stories of settling
Beginning with Abraham
who spent his whole life as a migrant and a nomad.
Always moving.
Never fully belonging.
Until now.
