All the Unloveliness

Genesis 47, 48, 49 &50

So that’s Genesis.
50 Chapters of Story….
Of God at work
Creating something out of nothing.
Treasure out of dust.

As Jacob is breathing his last, he gives his blessing to all his sons, and those of Joseph.
In these last days of being restored to one another.

Jacob was blessed according to God’s promises to Abraham.
He was a blessing, received blessing, and gave blessing.
I don’t think Abram could ever have imagined all this.
Where the story would go.
The pilgrimage of these nomads.

There was so much travelling to and from Canaan.
So much milk and honey that sustained these people.
And yet, they were to stay separate.
Pure.

And yet they ended up where they were supposed to end up.

Just like Jacob,
God is with us,
He does not spare us form trials and wilderness, but He weaves them into our story, our pilgrimage.

I am not like Jacob, or Joseph
I don’t think my purpose on earth is to birth a nation.
But my life too is a part of God’s story.
Full of moments, strung together…

Moments of tragedy and of great joy.
Moments of leaving and of arriving.
Of struggle and of rest.
Of having no clue.
Of knowing and being known.

Of blessing.

To be a blessing to each other.
To bring life and the speak life.
And God created us with a set of gifts and talents, unique to us.
To bring this to the word.

As we travel along together.
Hand in hand.

I love that!
